Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (APM Terminals Pipavav) is India’s first Private Port developed under the Public Private Partnership model. It is an all-weather, deep draught multi-commodity port with dedicated infrastructure for handling Container, Bulk, liquid bulk and RORO cargo. The port provides easy access to the major shipping lines serving India’s foreign trade. The port has good road and rail networks to India’s north-west hinterland; which helps in connecting the Indian customers to the global markets. APM Terminals Pipavav is one of India’s leading gateway port and is a part of the APM Terminals global terminal network.
The current annual Cargo Handling Capacity includes 1.35 million TEU Containers, 250,000 Passenger cars, 2 million metric tons of Liquid bulk and 4 million metric tons of Dry bulk. The port has adequate marine side, land side, dedicated container yard, cold storage yard and warehousing infrastructure to accommodate storage for all types of cargo. Port Pipavav is the first port in India to have started double stacked container trains operations with 180TEU capacity. The port has railway sidings to support loading and offloading right at the port. The Port has the channel length of 4,000m, Container berth of 735m length with a draught of 14.5m, Bulk berth of 695m length with a draught of 14m, and one LPG/Liquid berth with a draught of 12m.
The Port has Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Status from the World Customs Organisation. The AEO certification recognises the terminal as a 'secure' and 'reliable' trade partner for global supply chains. The port initiated various digital initiatives to ease out the logistic process and reduce the cost & time of transporting cargos. i.e. DPD [Direct Port Delivery], e SMTP [electronic sub-manifest transhipment permit], e Form 13 etc. The port has started with exclusive reefer lane and drive through container scanning at the port to ensure quick turnaround of cargoes.
